A 5 day music & arts festival in the heart of Ness that provides entertainment every evening. We have cultural and musical events throughout the week including Ceilidh bands and traditional singing. This year we have an Irish exchange visit from Conamara joining us all week who will be performing on the Thursday evening. Other acts include Jenna Cummings, Ness Melodeon Band and others to be confirmed. The performances will be taking place in Taigh Dhonnchaidh & the Ness Social Club.

Fèis Taigh Dhonnchaidh 2006

Fèis Taigh Dhonnchaidh runs from the 31st July – 4th August and provides daily tuition in a variety of music, song and dance for both adults & children. The classes include traditional singing, Fiddle, Piping, Highland dancing and many more with classes running from 10am-4pm. This will be a wonderful experience for an insight into the wonderful world of cultural music, dance and the arts.

Bidh clasaichean rim faotainn gach madainn, agus feasgar bidh cothrom agaibh a dhol air turasan inntinneach timcheall na sgìre.
Tha an Sgoil Shamhraidh a’ toirt dhuibh cothrom Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an suidheachadh nàdarra, neo-fhoirmeil ach aig an aon àm tha sibh a’ leasachadh ur sgilean cànain agus air ur misneachadh gu bhith cleachdadh a’ chànain. ‘S e cothrom air leth a tha seo do dhaoine aig a bheil ùidh a bhith ag ionnsachadh ann an coimhearsnachd bheòthail a tha làidir a thaobh na Gàidhlig.

Would you like to improve your language skills?
10-14th July: Beginners/Intermediate 31st July – 4th August: Intermediate/Advanced
Lews Castle College working with Iomairt Nis, Comunn Eachdraidh Nis and Taigh Dhonnchaidh are offering a unique opportunity for students and Gaelic Language enthusiasts to learn Gaelic or improve their language skills in a community where many of the people speak the language everyday.
The summer school will take place in Ness, the most northern community in Lewis
- 10th – 14th July: coinciding with Hebridean Celtic Festival
- 31st July – 4th August: coinciding with Ceòl Nis (Ness music festival)
If you are interested in learning Gaelic or brushing up on your Gaelic skills, why not attend Sgoil Shamhraidh, a week long Gaelic course held in the culturally rich, Gaelic speaking region of Ness, Isle of Lewis? Every day students will attend classes until lunch-time and then, in the afternoon be taken on informative trips around the community.
The Summer School gives you the chance to use Gaelic in a realistic, informal situation and at the same time improving your language skills and being given the confidence to use the language. This is an excellent opportunity for anybody interested in learning in a strong, active Gaelic community.

£100 – Students
This does not include travelling and accommodation costs.
