Ness Melodeon Band are a group of local melodeon enthusiasts from Ness, the northernmost part of the Isle of Lewis. The group has met most Thursday evenings in their local music centre Taigh Dhonnchaidh since their formation in 2000. Traditional melodeon playing had seen a great decline over the years and so the group was formed with the aim to keep the old style alive. They started out as just an informal group meeting for a tune, cuppa and a yarn. Working with Taigh Dhonnchaidh some members began teaching melodeon to the young people of the community and there are currently nearly 20 children learning melodeon at Taigh Dhonnchaidh.

As the group grew in confidence playing together they started to perform at local charity events and over the years have travelled with their boxes to many places including Ireland, London, Glasgow, Aberdeen and even as far as Harris!

The band have a very distinctive and authentic sound based heavily on the traditional Gaelic style.
