TAIGH DHONNCHAIDH
TAIGH DHONNCHAIDH
Taigh Dhonnchaidh is a centre of music and arts based in Ness and is run by a committee and a group of local volunteers who work year-round to provide musical and cultural opportunities to the youth of the district and beyond.
Based in the community of Ness, on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Taigh Dhonnchaidh aims to preserve local, traditional music and culture for the present and future generations.

CLASSES
CLASAICHEAN
Instrumental, singing and dancing classes run throughout the school term.
Current classes available at TD are Melodeon, piano accordion, guitar, drama and teen group work.

EVENTS
TACHARTASAN
In usual circumstances TD hosts several events a year.
Some of these events include cèilidhs, concerts, cinema, and afternoon teas
FÈIS TAIGH DHONNCHAIDH
Each Easter TD hosts a ‘fèis’ - a Gaelic music and cultural festival - offering tuition in instrumental music, as well as Gaelic singing, drama and art.
TD has also developed a cultural connection with Connemara in Southern Ireland where the children take part in an annual exchange.

NESS MELODEON BAND
Ness Melodeon Band are a group of local melodeon enthusiasts from Ness, the northernmost part of the Isle of Lewis.
The group has met most Thursday evenings in their local music centre Taigh Dhonnchaidh since their formation in 2000.

New Extension
Development
We are proposing to build an extension at the back of the house and develop the existing space. The extension would allow us to have our own staging and performance area, which will enable us to hold all our events in-house, whilst also creating more space for classes.
